2010 Toyota iQ Disco

With the new Disco Toyota iQ concept car has made an oversized disco ball on the wheels. This shows the complicated mirror platelet foliation and sophisticated DJ sound system concealed in the interior of the iQ. The stylish appearance complete the two scissor doors, swinging in the style of a sports car to the top, and the 18-inch alloy wheels.
The interior of the Toyota iQ Disco presents itself based on the equipment line iQ +. There are also white interior applications. The heart of the vehicle this time is not efficient 1.33-liter Dual VVT-i petrol engine with 72 kW/98 hp, but the vehicle into an integrated, professional DJ sound system. It consists of a complete, fully powered subwoofer / satellite speaker system includes 15-inch bass reflex subwoofer, 2-channel mixer and two Numark NDX 800 players. The system can play many music formats and delivers up to 1000 watts and a sound pressure of 130 dB, a professional DJ performance enough to play on a club.

2011 Toyota FT-86G Sports Concept

The Toyota FT-86G Sports Concept named is derived from the AE-86 Corolla – a small, light-weight, rear-wheel drive coupe from the 1980s that has achieved cult status. The “G” suffix signifies a sports conversion that has stretched the original by 30mm, widened it by 20mm and lowered it by 30mm (4190mm × 1780mm × 1230mm).
Sharper looks come from a totally redesigned front end that incorporates a larger air intake with visible intercooler, as well as a vented bonnet. At the rear, a large carbon-fibre wing, diffuser and oversized twin exhausts contribute to the edgier styling. The Toyota FT-86G Sports Concept sits on low-profile Bridgestone 19-inch rubber – 245/40 at the front and 275/35 at the rear, while Recaro sports seats complete the “G” conversion of the dynamic four-seater.
The concept retains classic sports-car underpinnings with a front-mounted 2.0-litre engine – now boosted with a turbo – driving the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.

Aston Martin Cygnet Concept – first official images

Aston Martin today released first official images of the ‘Cygnet’ – a new luxury commuter concept car based on the Toyota iQ, that was previewed first back in June.
The Cygnet won’t be cheap compared to the Toyota iQ it is based on, rumored price is around 25,000 euros ($30,000), which is still cheap compared to true Aston Martin models.
Power will come from the same 1.0-liter or 1.3-liter engine found in the Toyota iQ. No V8 and V12 engines for this little Aston Martin.
Aston Martin hopes to have it ready sometimes in 2010 and it will be initially

BRABUS GLK V12 – The world’s fastest street-legal SUV

BRABUS GLK V12 uses a 6.3-liter twelve-cylinder twin turbo engine that produces a very impressive 750 horsepower, peak torque is electronically limited to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft).
Power is sent to rear axle via reinforced five-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential with a locking rate of 40 percent.
0-100 km/h 62 mph) comes in 4.2 seconds and 0-200 km/h (124 mph) in 12.8 seconds. Top speed is 322.3 km/h (200.3 mph), making it the world’s fastest street-legal SUV. That’s of course a close call as TechArt Cayenne Turbo has a top speed of 321.2 km/h, so with little more tweaking there will be a new record holder.
To handle such performance this wild SUV gets modifications to aerodynamics, suspension and brakes. World debut is next week at the Dubai International Motor Show and price for this high-performance SUV starts at 397,000 Euros ($585,694). That is just ridiculous, as it is still a GLK we are looking at. For full details about all the modifications see the press release below.

Ford’s Kuzak hints that GT successor may be in the cards

Now here’s a juicy rumor we can get excited about: According to the crew over at Automobile, Ford may be considering another shot at the legendary Ford GT. The news comes courtesy of Derrick Kuzak, Ford’s head of global product development. After being questioned about the possibility of a GT successor, Kuzak chose his words very carefully by admitting that there are certain things in the four-year product plan that the company isn’t comfortable with discussing. While that’s not an out-and-out confirmation that the Blue Oval wants to see another mid-engine, high-horsepower machine in its stable, the overly diplomatic response does indicate that the thought may have crossed more than a few minds in Dearborn.
Is this a thin thread to cling to? Absolutely, but the talking heads of the industry typically site pesky issues like a vehicle’s high expense and looming CAFE standards as perfect reasons against building a new halo car. Considering that none of that rhetoric showed up this time around and the fact that we’ve heard rumors about a hybrid GT successor, it wouldn’t seem to be too much of a stretch to think that we just might see a new version of the car in a few short years. Consider our fingers crossed.

Nissan admits Leaf EV launch could have been handled better

Right now, saying that the individuals who pre-ordered Nissan Leaf EVs are a little disappointed about the slow rate of deliveries would easily catapult you to the reigning monarch of the nation of understaters. After the Japanese automaker happily snapped up over 20,000 pre-orders for the electric hatch, the company managed to deliver a paltry 19 units in December. No, not 19,000 or 1,900 – nineteen. Not surprisingly, the Internet has erupted into a rousing chorus of conspiracy theories about the holdup, with everything from cars being held at the docks for wiring repairs to Nissan holding vehicles so that the Japanese market can be satiated first. According to Nissan, however, none of that is true.
The hangup boils down to a good old-fashioned corporate slip-up. Instead of parceling out the allotment of Leaf EVs to dealers like manufacturers typically do, Nissan decided to go with a more democratic but experimental online pre-ordering program. As a result, those who were first in line got the first cars. Everyone else has been left out in the cold.

According to PlugInCars.com, Nissan admits that in hindsight, it could have handled the vehicle’s launch better. Moving forward, as production ramps up, the company says that it will likely return to a more traditional dealer model for the Leaf, and that in six months time, few people will remember the delay. Nissan says that while there have been some cancellations as a result of the delays, the company believes that it’s been a relatively small number compared to overall reservations.

Mercedes-Benz releases C63 AMG Affalterbach Edition for Canada

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is an absolutely stunning piece of machinery. We recently had a chance to steer a C63 fitted with the P31 Development Package around the greater Detroit area, and it now looks like our friends to the north are getting a special edition of Merc’s AMG atom bomb all for themselves.
Dubbed the Affalterbach Edition (it’s named after the German town in which AMG’s skunkworks reside), this C63 wears a unique Magno Allanite Grey paint that is accented with red brake calipers, 19-inch black alloy wheels, carbon fiber mirror shells and a subtle lip spoiler. No tweaks have been made to the C63′s powertrain, but the Affalterbach edition comes standard with the normally optional AMG Performance Package, meaning there’s 481 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque on tap. Sprints to 62 miles per hour will be accomplished in a tidy 4.4 seconds.
Inside, the Affalterbach treatment includes things like AMG sport seats wrapped in Nappa leather, red contrast stitching, carbon fiber trim, and special edition logos placed throughout the cabin. Only 30 units will be sold in the Great White North, starting from $81,500 Canadian when it goes on sale in the spring. Follow the jump for Mercedes-Benz’s official release.

Honda Previews 2012 Civic

Compact cars are all the rage, and established industry leaders are seeing their positions threatened by emerging new competitors. In the traditional United States small car market, Toyota and Honda have led with their Corolla and Civic models.
General Motors has provided strong competition with Cruze, and Ford and Hyundai are readying new models to hit the market. Honda’s Civic was introduced in 2005 as a 2006 model, receiving a mild freshening for the 2009 model year.
Critically regarded, it has sold well ever since introduction. That is impressive considering it has been on the market for quite a bit of time. At the North American International Auto Show, Honda has shown off a preview of what to expect from the updated Civic that is set to go on sale in spring.

With a still-modern design to start with, changes to the 2012 sedan don’t mess with the formula much. The front end is a bit more aggressive, with a new grille, and the sides receive new sculpting and surfacing.
The rear end debuts the biggest changes on the exterior, with a new trunk lid and taillights. The thin horizontal tail lights of the previous model have been replaced by thicker vertical ones similar to those on the Honda Crosstour.
The coupe model on the other hand appears to get more significant updates. The changes to side shoulder line and body sculpting make the car seem longer and sleeker.
